As part of my first year studies at the University of Lancaster I was required to build a rainfall data analysis program that could analysis text files produced by the local Hailrigg weather station in Lancaster; this obviously dramatically reduces the scope of the application unless similar stations format their data in a similar way. The application can be used to analize large volumes of information and calculate averages, totals, wettest and driest periods of time (years, months, days). You can also visualize the data in bar graph form over periods of time such as months and years.

A customizable java library used to update software. All you have to do is update is provide the library with access to two files on your web server one being the software version (for example: http://mydomain.com/software/projects/server/version.txt or a slightly more complex php script with multiple projects) and the second being the file to update to. The library will do the rest and is accompanied by a nice GUI.
TFTP stands for Trivial File Transfer Protocol and is most memorable for it's simplicity, for every individual packet the server sends or waits an acknowledgement, if it doesn't receive one it continues to retransmit until one arrives. This project was built during my time at the University of Miami as part of CSC524 - Computer Networks. The project provides a basic netbounce client and the TFTP server that only allows GET/PUT to the current working directory.
