> In April 2013, the Cloud Solutions Team open sourced a sample application on github for Hadoop on Google Compute Engine. Hive and Pig on Compute Engine builds on the previously built sample application to help customers install and configure the Apache tools Hive and Pig.  The sample application includes a script run by the customer to pull the Hive and Pig software packages from Google Cloud Storage to the Hadoop master instance for installation. Script and configuration files are pushed from the customer workstation to the master instance using gcutil. Installation is executed remotely over SSH from the customer workstation.
