> Repurpose Kick Pedal to supply only a short pulse of voltage to the internal circuitry.  I was going to use a system of interrupts but ended up going with polling as a mysterious 4-second delay on the input capture interrupt caused problems, even occurring with code stripped to bare minimum.  Polling worked and was fast!
