Simpson Group Store is a Windows 8 application that allows for people to purchase cardboard cut-outs of people such as police officers. This project implements JavaScript Win.js that will allow the application access to the computer and devices and to provide theming for a Windows 8 application feel. This project uses WCF to pass database queries and results to and from the application.
SharpFrame is a web-based application that allows users to create their own chat rooms that have the ability to play a synchronised video stream to many users at once. SharpFrame uses a mix of programing languages to synchronise the media to its users. The main part of the project is coded in PHP using the Phalcon framework due to its speed compared to other competitor frameworks out there. Node.js is also used for this project as it is a solid choice for its ability of controlling the synchronous chat and video in real time. Lastly, MongoDB (an object-orientated database) was used because of its speed in accessing data in a table.
