Various Projects - decided to put small things here instead of keeping a separate repo for each

heypano/Capstone

This is my capstone project - it is currently in development and a lot will change. The goal is to design an iPad app to help young children (3-5) learn skills required by programming - like computational thinking

heypano/did-i-win

I felt like creating a lottery using QR codes. You scan the code and SOME MAGICAL CONDITION decides if you won or not. If you win, you get to display your name on the website.

heypano/thegame

The Game was designed and implemented for research within the Human-Computer Interaction Lab. Fellow researchers and I designed and conducted 6 Cooperative Inquiry and Participatory Design sessions at a school for children with learning disabilities. We cooperated with a classroom of 12 year old boys and designed this online game, which I implemented in Adobe Flash. The goal of the research was to study how the Cooperative Inquiry methods designed at the lab would apply to children with mild learning disabilities; however, we deemed it appropriate to implement our design in order to motivate and reward the participants.

heypano/TopicFlow

During the course of the 2012 Fall Semester, 3 of my classmates and I designed and developed a novel browser based tool to visualize Twitter data over time. More specifically, we attempted to tackle the hard problem of visualizing topic convergence over time. At the end of February 2013, a related paper will be submitted to ICWSM 2013. Collaborators: Li Jianyu, Sana Malik, Alison Marie Smith

heypano/ARcropolis

ARcropolis is a browser based, online, educational, two-player Augmented Reality (AR) game. The goal of ARcropolis is to educate elementary school students about the mythology surrounding the 'birth' of the city of Athens, as well as to entertain. Both players are given a 24 cards to print and use throughout the course of the game. Each card represents part of the story and the players' goal is to collaborate in a turn-based manner in order to compose the story from its pieces. ARcropolis was made in cooperation with Manos Giannisakis (former classmate) as a Thesis project. This project was selected and published as one of the best theses of the year by the Computer Science department at the University of Athens.
