Using the microphone on an Android phone, send the detected volume levels as data using Bluetooth out to a paired Arduino device that also has a Bluetooth module attached (bought separately). The Arduino then modulates the brightness of a LED (can be a big lamp for bragging rights) so a mealtime conversation is encouraged.
