India mulls having more of hybrid cars Everyday there are reports of increasing pollution levels in the country and the global warming issue. Heat and smoke generated by automobiles is considered a major source of global warming and this is increasing pollution level. The auto makers have responded to this challenge through R&D and technology advancement. They have developed electric and hybrid cars and now such cars are being mooted to India market also and the government is supporting the cause. It was recently reported that the centre is mulling to provide in the next financial year, subsidies of up to Rs 1.5 lacs on cars and upto Rs. 50,000 on two-wheelers. Total subsidy bill associated to such a move is expected to fall in the region of Rs. 300 to 500 crore. The subsidy burden will be financed from a cess that government recovers from car manufacturers. This cess happens to be one-eighth of the car’s cost and is returned back by the government in form of R&D support to car makers. http://www.carfuel.in/
