Exportportal/The-tricky-business-of-securing-export-schedules

Are you exporting in large quantities? Perhaps you should look into utilising the expertise of a freight forwarder. Exporting cargo by sea freight is the most popular and cost effective way of transporting your goods to overseas markets. However, a dose of extra planning is required to ensure your export schedule is secure. This means locking in space with your shipping line at least three to four weeks from your scheduled ship date. A little forward planning and a reliable freight forwarder can go a long way in helping to ensure your cargo reaches your customers in time.

The steady rise in domestic demand will help emerging Asian economies continue their healthy growth, with Indonesia doing particularly well, a new reports predicts. According to the OECD Development Centre, GDP growth in Emerging Asia (Southeast Asia, China and India) is projected to moderate gradually but stay resilient over the 2014-18 period, with an average annual growth of 6.9%, albeit less than the 8.6% registered before the global financial crisis. The region will continue to play an important role in global growth. The Economic Outlook for Southeast Asia, China and India report says Indonesia is projected to be the fastest-growing ASEAN 6 economy, with an average annual growth rate of 6.0% in 2014 18, followed by the Philippines with 5.8%. Real GDP growth in Malaysia and Thailand is projected to increase by an annual 5.1% and 4.9% respectively, led by domestic demand, especially in infrastructure investment and private consumption. Singapore's economy is forecast to grow by 3.3%. Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam are expected to grow at a robust pace over the medium term. "The success of emerging Asian economies will hinge on managing several challenges", said OECD Deputy Secretary General Rintaro Tamaki. "To harness the medium-term growth potential, it is critical that policy makers implement structural policies to reap the benefits of capital flows and foster closer economic co operation and integration in the region."

Exportportal/Global-M-A-deal-volume-hits--2.3-trillion-in-2013

Global merger and acquisition (M&A) deal volume reached $2.3 trillion so far this year, registering an increase of 9 per cent from last year levels, Dealogic said in a report today. According to the global deal tracking firm, global M&A volume has reached $2.30 trillion in 2013 year-to-date, up 9 per cent from the $2.10 trillion in the corresponding period last year. The M&A deal volume of $2.3 billion so far this year was the highest year-to-date total since 2008, when deals worth $2.77 trillion were announced. "The M&A deal volume this year was mainly driven by Verizon Communications' $130.0 billion bid for a 45 per cent stake of Verizon Wireless announced on September 1," Dealogic said. The deal also marks as the second largest M&A deal on record, behind Vodafone AirTouch's $172 billion transaction for Mannesmann in 1999, it added. In sharp contrast, deal activity has dropped to 29,813 transactions in 2013 year-to-date, down 16 per cent over the corresponding period of last year when 35,577 transactions were announced. A sector-wise analysis shows that the Telecom sector, with deals totalling $329.9 billion, was at the top in the list for global M&A so far this year, followed closely by real estate and healthcare with $284.5 billion and $240.1 billion, respectively. In terms of global M&A advisor ranking, Goldman Sachs topped the chart with $626.5 billion, followed by JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley with $603.7 billion and $515.8 billion, respectively, Dealogic said.
